Would you please post a reminder to the TY Magazine Group that their trip tomorrow night 31st May 2016 is at 6.30 p.m.Pat's on the Square followed by the cinema at 8.45 p.m.   The meal is paid for out of the profits of sale proceeds and the cinema sponsored them for their hard work - I emailed a list of their names to the cinema, so if they go in as a group together ! Each student is required to make their own travel arrangements.  A letter of notification has gone out to home.

Come in to school in uniform and go to your first three classes, at break time please get changed into your hiking gear etc and have your bag with you that has whatever you need for Tuesday's walk. TY Night and final TY trip

A massive well done and thanks to all 86 students who attended for interview this week (not easy to do that in front of your peers and teachers) - it was an honour and privilege to see you perform through the interview process - the majority of the work was amazing and once again the presentations surpassed anything I have seen before - be very proud and I hope that you took something away from the week (even if the interview did not go well for you). Once again well done to all of you.

A massive well done

A massive well done to all involved in the School magazine launch yesterday - super super stuff - great magazine - excellent in fact

Everything was really well organised yesterday - Ms McDaid would have been very proud of you - some excellent guests as well - Ms Harkin is raving about you - she thinks you are all excellent - sure we know that anyway!!!

All in all - you all did a great job - be very proud!

Once the interview is over!!!

Please can everyone begin to prepare for our Ty presentation night and if anyone wants to get involved or wants to help out please see me or the event management group (Leanne, Bronagh or Eilis are helping me) who are organising the night. It is up to everyone to get involved. We want to make it a great night. Please share the work load and help each other out - once the interviews are over YOU CAN ALL GET INVOLVED AND HELP OUT WITH OPEN NIGHT

Change of plan for Pe tomorrow just - take note

Get changed at lunch time.  Have your lunch taken and go to the bus at 150 in Pe gear. Have Pe gear for outside. Take into consideration the weather forecast. Shorts, t-shirt, runners etc. Have 5 euro with you but it must be in change - in 1 euro coins. I will explain all then.

We will sample Engineering, Science, Computing and Nursing and students must stay in the LYIT campus at all times.

We leave the school at 9.30 and return at 2.50 appox

The lap top is available in the PE OFFICE all week - you are not allowed to come during class time - breaktime and lunch time only

If u have a free class OR YOUR TEACHER ALLOWS YOU - you can go and get the lap top and take it to your class room - you must save your work on the desktop, MAKE SURE THAT IT IS WORKING PROPERLY AND THEN LEAVE THE LAP TOP BACK

From Mr Walsh about Gaisce

Bronze Gaisce Record Cards MUSTbe returned to Mr Walsh before the finish of school on Thursday May 5thin order to guarantee you getting your medal at the TY Graduation Ceremony at the end of the term. If you have not completed a particular section of the award but are very close to doing so them see me ASAP and I will decide whether you can be submitted for your medal at this stage. I will not chase students for the record cards and you will not be able to get your award or go on to your Silver Award without submitting the cards to me.

Absent (late) – 3 marks added if u have full attendance – every 5 days off – you loose 1 mark – every 5 days late – you loose half a mark

Behaviour – good or bad? How many negative notes in diary over whole year? What percentage of effort did you put into the year?

Work Experience Sheets

Signed (both terms by Parents/Guardians)

Evaluations – within diary – with you

Total number of Strikes received through the year (1 mark lost for each strike) Also 3 marks added if you have no strikes

Positive notes in diary over the whole year – if you get 3 you get rid of a strike (Mr Doherty must have signed off on this) – if you have no strikes and you get 3 positive notes you will gain 1 mark – again this must be signed off before the interviews

The adventure challenge for the Bronze Gaisce award will now take place on Tuesday May 24th andWednesday May 25th. As was outlined at the last meeting all the previous arrangements will stay the same except for the change in date. Gaisce - from Mr Walsh

  • Gaisce record sheets MUST be fully completed (and signed) and returned to Mr Walsh by Thursday April 28th at the very latest in order for you to receive your Bronze Medal at the TY Graduation. If anyone has a problem completing the award by this date please see Mr Walsh this week.
  • For anyone who missed Mondays meeting the date for the Adventure Challenge has had to be changed toWednesday May 11th and Thursday May 12th.
  • Will Daria and Riannan please see Mr Walsh on Tuesday as early as possible.

PEAI Video Competition 2016

The PEAI were delighted to announce the launch of the PEAI Video Competition 2016 at the PE Expo this evening.
We are looking for your students to create a video on “The Benefits of physical education”. Students must create a video in a group of 4 max or individually highlighting why PE matters to them. This can fall under the physical, emotional, psychological benefits or the social & life skills benefits.
Basically, let us hear what your students want in PE!!! Lets make our students PE advocates and let them voice why they love our subject. This will allow you, the PE teacher the tools to highlight a powerful message to management in your school when advocating for your subject and also, allow the PEAI to highlight this in a national level to key decision makers.
  • All details attached.
  • Closing date is the 20th May 2016.
  • Entry is FREE and with over 800 euro worth of prizes, this is one initiative you do not want to miss out on!!
  • 3 min max, 4 max per group. You may use any form of video editing software with voice overs, music, role play, actual video footage of a game etc.
  • (You must acknowledge the source of the music and pictures if used in your video).

U all have to do 1 spinning class - the other weeks - u can decide if u want to go to the pool or gym - I would advise that you try the pool and gym - but it is up to u!!

Interviews - this is your chance to highlight all the great things u have done this year - please do this to the best of your ability and get the best possible grade - you have the opportunity to tell us in 3 min what u did in TY and what u got out of TY - u will then be asked a range of questions in the other 2 mins about your presentation and your work - BEST OF LUCK TO ALL - I WANT U ALL TO DO REALLY WELL

Absent (late) – 3 marks added if u have full attendance – every 5 days off – you loose 1 mark – every 5 days late – you loose half a mark

Total number of Strikes received through the year (1 mark lost for each strike) Also 3 marks added if you have no strikes

Positive notes in diary over the whole year – if you get 3 you get rid of a strike (Mr Doherty must have signed off on this) – if you have no strikes and you get 3 positive notes you will gain 1 mark – again this must be signed off before the interviews

Please take note that your presentation can be no longer than 3 mins - we have to keep it fair for everyone so you will be cut off after the 3 mins is up - we do not want to do this so please make sure that it is no more than 3 mins!!

Attendance and late to school - be aware

During the forthcoming interviews students have to account for their own attendance by explaining how many days they missed in TY and how many days you were late - your job to find this out - u were supposed to keep a record over the year.
Please ensure any Friday absences are logged/explained on your yellow work attendance sheets (x2) and include this in your attendance record.
